Your comfort zone is a trap…

A few weeks ago, I began working with a new client in Querétaro, Mexico. Meet TDR Transportes. They are transforming transportation in Mexico.

I received a call about a possible client in Mexico. Would I be willing to take a client in Mexico? I thought about it and said, ‘Sure, why not? ‘ After all, my heritage is part Mexican. My mom’s family is from Mexico.

I am a seasoned Metronomics Business Coach with 21 years of experience. This should be easy for me.

I began to think about the engagement.

– Travel to Mexico every 3 months.
– Is it tricky crossing the border?
– What about all the warnings about Mexico?
– What about the language barrier? Even though my mom is Spanish, I never learned the language.
– This is a large company that has previously utilized coaching.
– The CEO is one of the most innovative and most inspirational leaders I have ever worked with.
– The fear kicked in, and I started to doubt myself.

Then the time to travel had arrived, and the result was so rewarding.

Crossing the border was a breeze; my client made sure I was well taken care of. We had an amazing two-day kick-off session, and both the client and I had a very enriching experience. I had nothing to fear or worry about.

I must say that the people of Querétaro, Mexico, are among the kindest, most welcoming, and intelligent individuals I know. I was struck when Alejandra, whom I had never met, never communicated with, or knew nothing about… greeted me that day with a hug and the comment… “Coach, we have been waiting for you. I am so glad you have arrived.”

Say what you want about Mexico, but my experience was terrific, and my new client, whom I adore, is one of the best companies I’ve come across. They have a strong leadership team anchored with a very inspirational and driven leader. They utilize the most modern technology, including AI, and are among the most intelligent individuals in my portfolio. The best part is that they are leading the way in the transportation industry in Mexico, yet they are hungry to learn more and are humble enough to ask for help from a coach.

I love this team, and I know they will keep me on my toes.
