How to Turn Strategic Planning into Company-Wide Ownership

Involve the Team. Elevate the Outcome.

The more brains in the room, the deeper the discussion, and the stronger the result.

Last week, I had the opportunity to lead a quarterly planning session with Fisher Associates, a team with a clear vision for where they’re going.

They understand something many companies miss:

If you want to achieve long-term goals, you can’t plan in a vacuum. You need insight, perspective, and ownership beyond the senior leadership team.

So we did something different.

For the first time, we expanded the planning process to include the next generation of leaders: 43 people in total.

We built a simple, powerful 3-step process:

1. Gather Insight

The broader team collected client and employee feedback, identified challenges, and surfaced priorities from their functional areas.

2. Strategic Integration

That insight was brought to the senior team and integrated directly into the planning process.

3. Collective Alignment

We brought everyone back together to refine and finalize the plan, ensuring clarity, alignment, and ownership across the board.

The result?

43 leaders who didn’t just hear the plan…

They helped build it.

They own it.

They’re aligned around it.

And now, they’ll cascade it throughout the organization and bring it to life.

I know this team well.

They won’t just hit their goals.

They’ll surpass them.

The question is:

Are you involving your next-level leaders in your planning process, or leaving untapped potential on the table?

If you’re curious how to structure this, reach out.

The outcome might surprise you.
